AUSD PTSA Vision statement:

The AUSD PTSA provides parents, teachers, and students with opportunities to come together and share ideas; support one another; inspire community involvement; and challenge each other to reach our educational goals.

Officer Descriptions

To be eligible to be a PTSA board member you must be a parent/guardian or teacher of a student currently enrolled in the Ajo Unified School District.

President - The president shall preside over all PTSA meetings, serves as the primary contact for the principal, and represent PTSA at meetings outside the organization. He/she may make any small or sudden decisions within parameters if principal needs something taken care of immediately, may call board members for a sudden vote, and can change a board meeting if needed due to a conflict or if board member(s) cannot attend.

Vice President - Assists president as needed and carries out the president's duties in his/her absence or inability to serve. The VP may oversee event committee(s).

Secretary - Takes notes at every PTSA meeting and makes them available within allotted time frame for website, president, principal, and secretary books. Reads last meeting minutes at the next board meeting. Types up any correspondence deemed necessary by president or PTSA board.

Treasurer - Handles and deposits all moneys for any PTSA, keeps records of all transactions, and keeps all funds up to date at all times. He/she will provide an updated report at each meeting and at other times of the year when requested by board.

Volunteer coordinator - Recruits and instructs volunteers for PTSA activities. Maintains current phone and availability list of volunteers. Will work with other board members and committee chairs to facilitate PTSA activities.

The nomination process begins March 30 and will cease at 8am on Monday April 11, 2011.
